How is it possible
that time has cut a rift like this.
So many years lie deep between us.
Only a fool would think to know the way.
All mirrors are unforgiving,
they reflect my ridiculousness.
The age of my child is evidence enough.
Our spouses hold world-records now.
Time with its own ax to grind
has settled me far away
from any claim.
